infantry demonstrations by the Napoleonic riders, showing their skills and abilities. The horses were beautiful and the costumes great!At the Battle Prom there were opera singers, big orchestra, much great music and flag waving, huge cannon firing right in time with the climax of the music, airplane demo, horse and cavalry skills. It was such a great experience and started about 4 0r 5 pm and lasted until after dark.
This was our first time at a Battle prom and there were thousands of people there. We were all out in a big green field where there was an orchestra shell set up and we all brought or rented tables and chairs and set up our picnic lunches anywhere on the grass. Many people wore fancy evening dresses and brought china and goblets and lots to drink! Gneitings, Nielsens, and Skinners went to enjoy a brand new English experience. It was really a great experience with great music, horses, airplane, 200 cannons and fireworks. The night sky was filled with cannon smoke and was totally red and then had lots of fireworks besides. We weren't as fancy as some but had a good time!
