Chilly day at the beach at Ventnor and Shanklin on the Isle of Wight. Too cool to even be tempted to put our feet in the sea. It was a nice beach with hotels and little shops right down on the shore. There are always public foot paths you can follow along the beach and inland as well. People over here walk a lot even on cooler days and in winter. We stayed in the quaint little town of Shanklin at the Roseberry Hotel and this is not it! This was the street in old town Shanklin with cute thatched roof cottages, shops and inns. Jim is in front of the inn.
This is a really charming tea house. We stopped and had hot fruit scones and a drink. The scones were like baking powder biscuits with raisins. But they did taste good. The owner was very friendly and told us there was a resident ghost lady who appears now and then to this place where she lived. The grounds were lovely and we are standing by a fish pond.
We ate at a restaurant here in Shanklin. The food was okay but not great but we were glad to find food taht night before we went to our hotel. We had great breakfasts at our hotel which was an old house made into a B&B. The bed was not good but what is new!
